The younger brother of J Dilla has taken the torch and now apparently embodies everything Jay Dee stood for. Whats even eerier, is while spttin’ Illa sounds like an amalgam of Baatin & his older brother, which makes for “Yancey Boys” quite the interesting debut. After my first listen I immediately dubbed Illa’s initial LP as Fantastic Vol. 3, as it oozes the same ambiance and vibes as Slum Village’s breakthrough sophmore album. This is one Hip-Hop head that is definitely looking forward to what Illa J has in store…

Enter the “G-Speak” by Oblong Industries, which features all of the exact same gesture controls you’ve seen in the movie, and we mean exact. There’s pinching, pulling, twisting, rotating, dappin’, flipping the bird and more. Oblong Industries calls the G-Speak a “spatial operating environment.” and similarities to the Tom Cruise flick can only be expected, being that one of Oblong’s founders served as science adviser to Minority Report and based the design of those scenes directly on his earlier work at MIT. Coming in at 5inches in length, and 2.5inches in width, Daniel intended it for emergency teams — firefighters, police, army, as well as regular everyday use, so its small, rugged but ergonomic and easy. “The Palm Light features a trigger at the bottom so when the fingers goes around the light, they push bar at the bottom into the body and the light turns on. The flash light is powered by solar powered LEDs, so it charges during the day and the side buttons are to change the color of the light, with the idea being that different groups of people would have different colors of light to reveal who they are, e.g. police have blue lights, firefighters have red etc. And being that yellow light creates a better visual field of depth, that would be the main color used for people using it for the army or special forces.

The light can also reflect back at the holder (as well as the surrounding floor, and of course straight ahead), to make it easier to seethe person holding the light. If for instance, in an emergency situation, you can see who is holding the light, whether it be a child,or fully grown adult.The overall aesthetics were inspired by a hand grenade, with the trigger being like that of the pin for a grenade. When the holder pulls o the trigger at the bottom of the light, the light beam turns on.However, there is also a power button at the top in case the individual would like to hold on the light but not have the beam on.

The light is extremely small, light an ergonomic, something that could fit on the belt of a police officer, marine or regular user, and is easy to pick up and shine the light very quickly while remaining secure in the individuals palm. It is ergonomically designed to fit in the holders palm, with the fingers wrapping around channels in the light…”
